Wanneroo Christmas Day Lunch

The Wanneroo Christmas Day Lunch ensures that nobody feels alone or in need during the holiday season. Rotary Mindarie was involved in organising and implementing the Wanneroo Christmas Day Lunch from 2021-2023 to spread Christmas cheer to those living in the City of Wanneroo area (Two Rocks to Girrawheen) who may find themselves alone or in need.

In 2022, Rotary Wanneroo joined Rotary Mindarie to assist in implementing the event, and in 2023, Rotary Joondalup also joined.

The Wanneroo Christmas Day Lunch is held at Irene McCormack Catholic College, who provide access, facilities, support and equipment for the event. Cherry’s Catering and Events cater for the event and provides all food, cutlery, crockery, and cleanup services. Many organisations and businesses assist this event by providing funding and donations such as food hampers, decorations, toys, books, water, soft drinks, ice, etc. These include:

  • City of Wanneroo: Offering financial support.
  • Wanneroo Agricultural Society Wanneroo Show: Donations were provided for the event.
  • Mineral Resources: Donations of food hampers.
  • Bunnings Warehouse Mindarie: Donations of decorations and toys.
  • Wesbeam: Donations of hampers.
  • RAAFA Merriwa: Donations of books, toys, CDs, and puzzles.
  • Coles: Donations of water, soft drinks, and ice.

The event’s success is a testament to the dedication and selflessness of our volunteers. Their invaluable contributions, from participating in induction and training sessions to giving their time all day on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, make this event possible. In 2023, over 50 volunteers assisted during the event.
