Battlefield Blue was developed by Australian artist Ron Davis with the purpose of raising awareness of PTSD and other mental health issues in our countries servicemen and women and first responders. Initially made with lead from battlefields, the Battlefield Blue Poppy has now been made into a wearable badge that can be worn everyday to start important mental-health based conversations.
Rotary Mindarie gets involved with the Battlefield Blue project by selling Blue Poppy badges and other branded merchandise during ANZAC Day, Vietnam Veterans Day, and Remembrance Day. Rotary Mindarie donates funds raised from these events to:
- Buddy Up Australia – Donations help support local veterans and first responders
- Soldiers and Sirens – Donations help support local veterans and first responders
- Sirens of Silence – Donations help support local veterans and first responders
- Lifeline – Donations help provide local people with counselling and other mental health support
