4 Way Test Speaking Competition

The 4-Way Test Speaking Competition, an annual event by invitation, is a unique opportunity for Year 6 and Year 10 students from Rotary District 9462. By participating, students can hone their public speaking skills, boost their confidence, and embrace the core values of Rotary.

Competition Objectives:

  • Excellence in public speaking: The competition aims to encourage and nurture exceptional speaking skills among students.
  • Student development: The competition provides a platform for students to build confidence and self-esteem.
  • Building relationships: The competition fosters strong connections between Rotary clubs and local schools.
  • Promotion of Rotary ideals: Throughout the competition, the ideas of Rotary are promoted and embodied in the 4-Way Test.

Students have the freedom to choose a topic important to them, but they must embody the principles of the Rotary 4-Way Test. Speeches must address:

  • Is it the TRUTH?
  • Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  • Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIP?
  • Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Participants are evaluated based on:

  • Incorporation of Rotary values: demonstrating understanding and application of the 4-Way Test.
  • Content and quality: providing a balanced review of the topic with clear points supported by evidence.
  • Engagement: connecting with the audience and delivering an appealing presentation.
